Mercor is recruiting experienced Billing and Posting Clerks to participate as independent contractors on a short-term research project for a leading AI company. This opportunity leverages your professional expertise in medical billing to help design and validate occupation-specific questions and tasks. The role suits seasoned billers who want flexible, remote contract work while contributing to a cutting-edge project.
Role Summary & Schedule:
• This is a fully remote, contract position requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for approximately 3–4 weeks.
• Work is asynchronous and can generally be scheduled around your availability, but you must be able to reliably log hours and meet project deadlines.
• Applicants must be based in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada and have reliable access to a desktop or laptop (Chromebooks are not accepted).
Key Responsibilities:
• Use your billing and posting experience to help craft and review role-relevant questions and scenarios.
• Provide informed feedback on billing processes, documentation practices, and typical issues encountered in the role.
• Accurately log project hours and contribute to deliverables within the agreed timeframe.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards when handling any sensitive example data or materials.
Requirements:
• Minimum 4 years of full-time experience as a Billing and Posting Clerk.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work from the US, UK, or Canada.
• Comfortable working independently and asynchronously as a contractor.
• Access to a reliable desktop or laptop computer (no Chromebooks).
• Strong attention to detail, familiarity with medical billing and coding concepts, and the ability to clearly explain practical workflows.
Desired Skills & Experience:
• Medical billing and coding knowledge, accounts receivable management, HIPAA awareness.
• Proficiency with billing software and data entry best practices.
• Analytical thinking, strong written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with high-volume billing environments and familiarity with typical payer interactions is a plus.
Compensation & Legal Notes:
• Mercor intends to offer competitive hourly compensation aligned to your professional background and geographic location; U.S.-based applicants will be quoted under a U.S. hourly scale (rates vary by region).
• Payment is made weekly via Stripe Connect based on logged project hours.
• Contractors will be engaged as “at-will” independent contractors.
• Mercor cannot support candidates on H1-B or STEM OPT status at this time.
