Purpose:

The Group Strategy & Investment Associate plays a leading research and analysis role with respect to the Group’s current and future portfolio of businesses and investments. The role’s purpose is to support the Group in driving improved performance from its existing portfolio, making more informed investment decisions, and anticipating risks to performance.

Supporting and reporting to the Group Strategy Director, the duties of the Group Strategy and Investment Associate include competitor benchmarking and industry intelligence, financial analysis, and investment reviews

Primary Accountabilities

Develop research intelligence relevant to the existing business and investment portfolio and communicate findings in regular and ad hoc reports
- Competitor benchmarking

- Industry and consumer trends

- Economic forecasts

Build and update financial and investment performance and valuation models
Monitor performance of listed investments vs benchmarks and develop a view on buy/sell/hold
Monitor performance of fund investments and underlying assets vs benchmarks
Analyse and evaluate investment opportunities, support on M&A transactions
Support on development of shareholder communications as required

Communication

Must communicate effectively with all levels of organisation and external to the business.
Fluent English and native Arabic preferred

Role Specifications

Qualifications & Experience

4-7 years financial consulting and/or investment banking or equity analyst experience with a top-tier consultancy firm or bank
Bachelors and/or Masters degree in business and/or finance-related field and/or MBA
Strong financial modelling and financial analysis background, including valuation and scenario modelling (will be evaluated)
Significant experience in competitor benchmarking, research and trend analysis
Prior experience of creating executive-level, concise and impactful reports, memos and presentations
Experience living and working in the UAE preferred
Experience in financial services, manufacturing and/or real estate a plus

Skills

Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
Must possess strong analytical skills, particularly financial and investments
· Detail-oriented, inquisitive, problem-solving in nature

· Excellent time management. Always meets agreed deadlines

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Mastery of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
