Role Description

We are seeking an investment analyst, with an entrepreneurial mindset, who will support in the analysis and execution of the investment strategy. In this role you will support in the execution of key performance indicators related to the investment activities and collaborate with affiliated organizations to ensure the fund is in alignment with shareholder initiatives. This position is based in Dubai with a flat organisational structure i.e. all members are expected to contribute and support the vision and mission of the fund. Candidates must adopt a supportive team culture and be optimistic about the future of tech.

The investment analyst will focus on early-stage investing in venture capital funds and startups innovating in the financial services and future economies sectors. She/he will work closely with and as an integral part of our small and collaborative team of investors.

Deal flow generation

Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities
Filter and curate high quality deals in line with the fund’s investment thesis
Call and/or meet with prospects and evaluate investment opportunities
Summarize call notes and manage deal pipeline in the CRM
Network with peers in other venture capital firms
Build and maintain a deep network in the UAE and regional ecosystems
Lead sector deep dives and industry mapping exercises
Keep up-to-date on developments and trends in the tech and VC landscape

Deal management

Gather information from the target companies and industry experts
Support in conducting interviews & market studies to assess viability of the investment opportunities
Evaluate the business model, financials and technology of prospective companies
Track company metrics, validate commercial terms, pps and cap table calculations
Conduct diligence on founders, customers, references and competitors
Support in the preparation of internal valuation models and subsequent investment memos

Portfolio management

Build close working relationships with founding teams of portfolio companies
Collect portfolio company data on a regular basis and perform internal analysis
Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities to add value
Draw on our network to support portfolio companies where possible
Identify opportunities for follow-on funding and present to the investment team
Support portfolio companies with fundraising and exit opportunities
Develop, track, measure, and report on KPIs related to the fund’s investments

Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant prior work experience including:

a minimum of two years of full-time work experience, in either of:
A venture capital, private equity, or investment bank
A big tech or leading finance company
As a founder or other key position at a venture-backed startup
A unique experience that demonstrates the drive, skills and character required
to be successful in high growth, entrepreneurial work environment
Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution, and a demonstrated track record of academic and professional success

Qualified candidates will likely also fulfill the following criteria:

Self-starter with superior work ethic and uncompromising personal integrity
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, both written and verbal communication
and ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated
Cash flow modeling, cohort and performance analysis, and investment valuations
Financial and business data modeling skills and a solid understanding of finance
and accounting, business operations and revenue models
Ability to effectively solve problems and translate needs into business objectives
Agile, flexible, collaborative and responsive approach to work
Masters in technology or finance related fields or MBA degree from a top school
