A great opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join an exciting and interesting international business that will empower and develop an individual that is up for a challenge.
As a Group Accountant, you will own and coordinate the month-end process and all general accounting activities for the designated Holding companies. You will assist in the financial control of the EMPG Group. You will get involved with the accounting of various of the group’s subsidiaries. You will also perform account reconciliations, financial analysis, and statutory reporting. You will use your initiative to improve processes and practices and take responsibility for the ownership of accounting activity.
Our Teams
EMPG owns and operates bespoke classifieds portals in emerging markets, primarily in the MENA, South Asia and Southeast Asia regions. The group’s flagship ventures are Bayut & dubizzle in the UAE. Your role will be to help the EMPG Group’s legal function across the world. However, based on your location, the vast bulk of your responsibilities will be linked to EMPG’s UAE businesses.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead and manage month-end and year-end closing activities of respective holding companies/subsidiaries as per accounting policies and procedures
Perform General Ledger reconciliations, Balance sheet and P&L analysis, prepare Trial Balance
Prepare workings for various accounting treatments as per IFRS
Oversee the assigned entities’ day-to-day accounting processes, ensuring that proper books of accounts are maintained for effective financial control following corporate standards and statutory requirements
Assist in the preparation of VAT returns, Group consolidation, audit and other reporting processes
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of financial and accounting operations and systems, procedures and practices considering automation and improvement of business processes
Work closely with other members of the Finance team, such as the Business Partners and Systems Accountant, in the provision of support to business colleagues
Assist in the development and review of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS
Work closely with the team to achieve the overall team's objectives.
Requirements
Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 3 years’ accounting and financial reporting experience working in a corporate organisation or reputable audit firms.
Detailed understanding and application of IFRS (including newly introduced standards)
Detailed knowledge of using Sage ERP (desirable)
Knowledge of basic VAT concepts (desirable)
Relationship building and stakeholder management ability strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning and organisational skills
Possess analytical, statistical and numeracy skills including problem-solving and attention to detail
