As a high performing Senior Financial Accountant, you are expected to showcase skills in reporting, commercial awareness and control environments. You'll be relied upon to monitor and improve all regulatory and control environments within the company.

You will stay up to date with the activities of the cost centres and be able to translate this information into meaningful reporting to the group entity. You will understand the major transactions to advise the group team on any questions they may have from the group submission.

You will lead any external audits and advise on all technical matters, prepare working memos, and review the draft financial statements. You will remain up to date with any changes in IFRS and FTA requirements and can present the impact of these changes to management.

You will work closely with the Finance Operations teams and will play a large part in ensuring the controls environment is working sufficiently. You will get to know the business operations, and work with various stakeholders to understand their needs. All this knowledge will be put together, and you will propose improved controls, which will work succinctly with business operations.

You are a self-starter, with the ability to bring any improvement ideas from the proposal stage through to project management and implementation.

In This Role, You Will
Apply your knowledge of the business activities to ensure meaningful and accurate reporting to the group entity.
Identify potential control weaknesses and propose solutions to these deficiencies.
Leading all relevant audits, both internal and external.
Draft accounting memos, hold technical discussions with statutory and group auditors as well as drafting and reviewing the financial statements during the company’s financial audits.
Preparation of workings for various accounting treatments as per IFRS.
Liaise with the financial operations teams to ensure the control environment is working sufficiently.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Work with various business stakeholders to understand the business and stay up to date with their operational activities. Ensure all recommendations consider business operations so your proposals work succinctly with business needs.
Present ideas and analysis to management and the CFO on a regular basis.
Staying up to date on changes in the accounting and tax regulations.
Actively seeking areas for improvement and driving the change.
Requirements
ACA, ACCA, CPA qualification (or equivalent)
Big 4 audit experience mandatory with exposure to controls testing
5+ years previous experience in a similar industry and roleBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field
Strong knowledge of IFRS and auditing standards
Extensive knowledge of controls analysis
Experience of interacting with external auditors
Detailed knowledge of accounting software applications
Advanced MS Excel skills
High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
Ability to operate effectively with people at all levels of the business
Organizational skills
Identify gaps in controls and implement improvements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, grasp new and complex processes quickly, solve problems on your own, and develop value add solutions
Demonstrable ability to work to tight deadlines on critical projects
