About This Opportunity

The Project Accountant role is responsible for assisting the Accounts function and project teams for all Trapeze India, Middle East and Africa companies. The Project Accountant is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, looking into variances, approving outgoing inclusive of expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to clients and payments collected. These tasks will involve corrective action implementation and adherence to financial and tax regulations across the IMEA business units.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Working under the general direction with minimal guidance from the Financial Controller, the Project Accountant will undertake the following high-level responsibilities in a consultative and professional manner:

Prepare monthly accounts for allocated VBU’s (Vertical Business Units) across multiple companies and multiple countries.
Prepare monthly financial and management reporting to internal management, and financial data required for Volaris in accordance with their reporting requirements and stringent month end timelines.
Conduct variance analysis of financial results against budget and provide meaningful commentary.
Conduct regular financial review of projects with Project Managers to ensure accurate recording of time and resource allocations and estimates to complete.
Assist in the management of the AP function including expense allocation and project costing.
Reviewing budgets, including staffing, work plans, and fee structures.
Providing project managers and clients with timely financial reports and budgets, as well as project forecasts.
Preparing pre-billing reports for project managers to review.
Preparing actual costs, working capital, and tax reports.
Monitoring receivable income and supporting project managers with collections.
Issuing invoices and purchase orders, as well as paying consultant, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills.
Ensuring a steady cash flow by generating, auditing, and sending invoices in a timely manner.
Updating contracts according to client requirements and reporting associated budget amendments.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations including the processing of FX revaluations and liaison with Finance staff within the Volaris Group of companies around the world.
Prepare statutory returns as required for each company and country.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and management of cash flow and forecasts across multiple countries, currencies and bank accounts.
Assist the Financial Controller with quarterly budgeting process and any other tasks as required.
Actively work with business units to improve business processes and performance.
Maintain and ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
Undertake any other reasonable tasks consistent with training and skill levels required for this position as requested.

Education and Experience

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce or another related discipline. Post Graduate qualifications are desired but not essential.
Minimum of five (5) + years proven experience in Financial Accounting, preferably in a commercial environment.
Accredited CA/CPA qualifications or studying towards completion is essential.
Excellent working knowledge of accounting tools and Microsoft Excel.
Proven exposure to foreign currency transactions is an advantage.
Previous experience in a Project Delivery and Service/Support environment is highly desirable.
Previous experience with India, Saudi Arabia and South African tax is highly regarded.

Travel

The position may involve occasional domestic travel within Australia and overseas.
All air travel is economy class.
