Accountant Required in Dubai

Working Activities:

To perform accounting work in the Ship ownership/management business by ensuring that all tasks are completed within prescribed timescales.

To assist and contribute to the preparation of the monthly management reports and annual financial statements, monitoring of financial performance and completion various reporting.

Handles the day-to-day accounting such as Sales (Freight, Hire, Demurrage, CP Claims), Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, MIS reporting
Handles the Receivables reconciliations, receipts and posting on a daily/monthly basis
Review and records accurately supplier’s invoices, credit notes and suppliers’ payment transactions
Preparation & posting of accounting and payments vouchers, processing supplier invoices for payment, along with Supplier statements and reconciliation
Handles and verifies petty cash, reimbursement of expenses and posting in ERP
Finalization of Voyage P&L, compare actuals with estimates and report the variances
Analyze the monthly accounts of ship managers, compare ship operating expenses against budget
Pass Journal entries for account reconciliations, provisions, accruals and prepayments
Conduct month-end / annual closing of the books and monthly general ledger reconciliations
Ensure proper documentation and recording of Company’s Fixed Assets, and FA registers control and monitoring
Performs daily/monthly reconciliations of various Banks statements
Assist in Preparing business unit cash flow and payment plans in line with companies’ deadline
Assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, financial reports in accordance with the accounting principles & procedures, and IFRS
Assist in the preparation of necessary supporting schedules/summary for VAT and Corporate Tax filing returns
Ensure all records maintained by the accounts department, meet the audit requirements of external auditors / Tax Authority Audit


Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Chartered Accountant
Experience: 5+ years in UAE preferably from Shipping industry background
Knowledge of Accounting Software and Excellent IT Skills
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles & procedures, IFRS, experience in VAT and knowledge of corporate tax
Strong commercial acumen and should be able to solve problems
Detail oriented and ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions
