Role Overview As a Senior Accountant at Gumloop, you will own the in-house accounting function as we transition away from outsourced bookkeeping and build a scalable financial foundation for a fast-growing, usage-based AI platform. You will own the full close for our U.S. and Canadian entities, produce accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and bring structure to revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidations, and financial controls. This role sits at the center of how Gumloop understands its unit economics. You will partner closely with leadership on revenue accounting under ASC 606—including subscriptions, usage, credits, overages, and enterprise contracts—as well as infrastructure-related COGS and the metrics that matter for a usage-based SaaS business. Engagement Structure This role will begin as a one year contract engagement averaging approximately 20 hours per week. Responsibilities Prepare and submit monthly actuals and quarterly forecasts to the Regional FP&A team, ensuring accurate loading of final numbers into the Hyperion reporting tool. Manage monthly financial controls from a risk and audit perspective, ensuring compliance. Assist the Finance Director in identifying opportunities for performance improvement across the organization. Review and approve master data and journal entries within internal systems, ensuring appropriate controls are in place. Coordinate with other members of the Finance team to consolidate actuals and forecasts. Support the development of financial reporting and analysis tools that provide quality insights to Management during the forecasting process. Monitor operational data to identify risks or irregularities that could impact financial reporting. Act as a backup for other Finance team members and the Finance Director as required. Resolve operational queries requiring Finance expertise, intervene to address issues, ensure appropriate controls are implemented to prevent recurrence, and educate operational teams on financial implications. Drive automation of manual tasks where possible. Enhance FP&A processes by designing and implementing improvements to forecasting accuracy. Develop dashboards in collaboration with the Internal Transformation team to improve transparency of financial performance and operational KPIs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance & Accounting. Professional certification such as CMA or ACCA is desirable. Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate finance, financial planning & analysis. Expert Excel skills with speed and agility a must; ability to quickly transform financial raw data into meaningful information. Knowledge of working with Hyperion Smart View is a plus.
